1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use GiveCause, we may collect your name, email address, account credentials, profile information, campaign information, campaign images, donation records, payout information, verification information, support messages, device information, IP address and other technical information reasonably required to operate and protect the service.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure accounts, operate fundraising campaigns, process and record donations, facilitate eligible payouts, verify accounts and campaign creators, prevent fraud and abuse, provide customer support, maintain financial and transaction records, improve the platform, communicate important service information and comply with applicable legal and payment-processing requirements.

3. Public Campaign Information

GiveCause allows campaign creators to publish information so supporters can discover and support their campaigns. Depending on the campaign, publicly displayed information may include the campaign title, story, image, fundraising goal, amount raised, category, campaign location and selected public creator information. Users should not publish sensitive personal information they do not want publicly accessible.

4. Donations and Payment Processing

GiveCause may use third-party payment service providers, including Stripe and Flutterwave where applicable, to process donations and other permitted financial transactions. Payment information may be collected and processed through the applicable provider's secure infrastructure. GiveCause does not intend to store complete payment-card numbers or card security codes on its own servers.

Third-party payment providers operate under their own agreements, privacy policies, security requirements and regulatory obligations. The applicable provider's terms and policies govern information that the provider processes directly.

5. Stripe and Stripe Connect

Where Stripe services are used by GiveCause, Stripe provides payment infrastructure that can support online payments and platform payment flows. Stripe Connect is designed for platforms and marketplaces and can provide tools for onboarding and verifying connected users, routing payments and facilitating payouts to eligible recipients.

Where a GiveCause fundraising transaction uses Stripe Connect, Stripe may require an eligible fundraiser to provide identity, business, banking, tax, compliance and other information required for verification and risk controls.

Subject to the applicable Stripe service, account configuration, country availability, verification status and transaction eligibility, Stripe Connect can facilitate payment flows and payouts from a platform to eligible connected accounts and supported bank accounts or other supported payout destinations.

Stripe independently determines the availability and eligibility of its services. GiveCause does not represent that Stripe services or Stripe Connect payouts are available for every fundraiser, country, campaign, transaction or banking institution. Stripe may require additional due diligence or impose restrictions where applicable.

6. Worldwide Fundraising

GiveCause is designed to help eligible campaign creators reach supporters internationally. Supporters may be located in different countries, subject to applicable laws, payment-processor availability, campaign eligibility and GiveCause policies.

The availability of a payout to a local bank account depends on the fundraiser's eligibility, verification status, country, banking information and the payment infrastructure available for that account. GiveCause does not guarantee that every country or banking system will be supported.

7. Identity Verification and Compliance

GiveCause may require identity or account verification before certain features, including withdrawals, become available. Verification information may include government-issued identification, legal name, address, banking information, business or organization information, tax information and other information reasonably required for compliance.

Necessary information may be shared with payment processors, verification providers, fraud-prevention services and other service providers when required to provide requested services, protect users or comply with applicable obligations.

8. Fraud Prevention and Security

GiveCause uses reasonable technical and administrative safeguards designed to protect accounts, transactions and personal information. We may monitor account and transaction activity to identify suspicious, fraudulent or unauthorized activity. Accounts, campaigns, donations or withdrawals may be restricted while verification or security reviews are completed.

9. Email and Communications

GiveCause may use transactional email services, including Brevo, for account verification, welcome messages, password recovery, donation notices, payout notices, security notices, suspension notices and account-closure notices. Routine platform notifications may also be delivered inside the GiveCause dashboard.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

GiveCause may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain login sessions, protect accounts, remember preferences, provide essential functionality, prevent abuse and improve the user experience. Cookie choices may be managed through the controls provided on the website.

11. Third-Party Service Providers

GiveCause may use third-party providers for payment processing, payouts, email delivery, identity verification, fraud prevention, hosting, security, analytics and customer support. Such providers may process information according to their own agreements and privacy policies.

Platform Use

GiveCause provides technology and services for fundraising campaigns. Campaign organizers are responsible for the truthfulness, legality and accuracy of their campaigns and for using funds for the stated purpose.

Campaign Visibility

Campaigns may be accessed through direct campaign links, featured campaign pages and other locations where GiveCause or a campaign organizer publishes a campaign. Public visibility may vary according to platform settings and campaign status.

Payment and Processing Fees

GiveCause's withdrawal platform fee is currently 5.7% of the requested withdrawal amount and is shown before a withdrawal request is confirmed. Third-party payment-provider fees may also apply. The applicable provider fee presented at payment or settlement is controlling and may change according to the provider's current pricing, taxes, regulations or service configuration.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals may require account verification, an eligible balance and valid payout information. GiveCause may delay, reject or review a withdrawal where required for fraud prevention, verification, payment reconciliation, payment-provider requirements or legal compliance.

Prohibited Use

Users may not use GiveCause for unlawful activity, fraud, impersonation, misleading fundraising, harassment, abuse or campaigns that violate applicable law or platform rules.

Account Suspension and Closure

GiveCause may suspend or close accounts where platform rules, verification requirements, security controls, payment-provider requirements or legal obligations require action. Eligible donation refunds or reversals may be handled according to the applicable transaction and campaign circumstances.
